September 23-25, 2016 in Asheville, North Carolina

ReVIEWING Black Mountain College is an annual conference co-hosted by the Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center and the University of North Carolina, Asheville. The three-day program includes a full schedule of speakers, panels, workshops, and performances. The conference is open to the public and is scheduled for Sept. 23-25, in Asheville, NC. Most conference activities will take place on the UNC Asheville campus at the Reuter Center. There will be a reception Friday evening at the Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center in downtown Asheville.

The conference will begin on Friday, Sept. 23rd after lunch and will conclude on Sunday the 25th. We will offer a BMC campus tour at the Lake Eden campus of Black Mountain College on Sunday afternoon. There is a modest additional fee of $15 for this tour.

Keynote Speaker : Helen Molesworth

Helen Molesworth is currently the Chief Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. From 2010 to 2014 she served as Chief Curator at the Institute of Contemporary Art / Boston, where she organized “Leap Before You Look: Black Mountain College 1933 – 1957” with Associate Curator, Ruth Erickson. She is the editor and primary author of the accompanying catalogue for “Leap Before You Look” which is a stunning new addition to the growing collection of books about Black Mountain College. Molesworth’s other work includes: Work Ethic (2003), Part Object Part Sculpture (2005), Amy Sillman: One Lump or Two (2013) and This Will Have Been: Art, Love, and Politics in the 1980s (2012).
