Inspired by the textiles and fiber works of BMC graduate Lore Kadden Lindenfeld, this ELEMENTS workshop, facilitated by Marcyanne and Baya of Remnants Thrift & Sew, will explore the natural landscape through fiber collage. Echoing a lifelong art practice of Lore Kadden Lindenfeld, participants will create textile collages inspired by the textures and forms of the landscape. Fabric and materials will be provided. This workshop is presented in conjunction with Dialogue: Lindenfeld / Lindenfeld (January 30 – May 9, 2026), an exhibition exploring inter-generational conversation across mediums.

About Lore Kadden Lindenfeld

Born in 1921, Lore Kadden Lindenfeld emigrated from Germany to the US as a Jewish refugee in the late 1930s. She attended Black Mountain College from 1945 to 1948, already equipped with sewing and embroidery skills. She was a student of both Josef and Anni Albers, as well as Trude Guermonprez and Franziska Mayer, all of whom fled Europe like Lore. Inspired by the Alberses and the Bauhaus tradition, she worked as a textile designer in the New York textile industry and had a successful career as a weaver, fiber collage artist, and college-level weaving and art history teacher.

Lore Kadden Lindenfeld’s fiber collage pieces are rhythmic and textured, inspired by the natural world she observed around her. From studying the patterns of wood grain to rendering dramatic rocky landscapes and lush marshlands in fiber, her artwork carries a spirit of both reverence and curiosity. Below is a selection of Lore’s fiber collage works on view as part of Dialogue: Lindenfeld / Lindenfeld.
