Our free virtual field trip guides are available to educators at all levels and are intended to incorporate themes of Black Mountain College into the contemporary classroom. Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center staff develop this content to introduce students to the history of Black Mountain College and its associated artists, writers, and educators. Students will find connections to their own lived experiences and connect this history of BMC with the present-day, considering innovative new ways to problem solve, observe, and experiment. We encourage educators to make this specific to your classroom by working with Kira Houston, Outreach Coordinator – We are always open to customizing and creating new lessons based on your curriculum.

Please see our Education Information Sheet here for more information, including a sample virtual field trip guide.

Tours and class visits / field trips are held at BMCM+AC and the historic Black Mountain College campus at Lake Eden. Visits to the museum connect students with the history of BMC through the lens of current exhibitions. Contact Kira Houston, Outreach Coordinator, to schedule a tour at Tours of the BMC campus at Lake Eden are held on a regular basis and offer a history of Black Mountain College situated on the site itself.
