This Friday Nov. 8th, join us at 5 Walnut Wine Bar in downtown Asheville from 5-7pm to celebrate a new work by Jimmy O’Neal commissioned by 5 Walnut for the Carolina Lane alley wall. Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center worked with 5 Walnut Wine Bar to select O’Neal and collaboratively host this exciting new work of art. His 28′ x 28′ mural is based on a cymatic image (capturing the sound and resonance of a space and translating the information into a visual work). The cymatic image was created using a cymascope, and the sound was of a singing glass of the last sip of wine. The large circular image spans nearly the entirety of the building.

Jimmy O’Neal is a WNC-based artist who creates museum and public works installations across the country and around the world, exploring and inventing new materials and technology through an artistic lens. Find out more at his website.

For the celebration, Egg Syntax will present abstract music generated from scientific data using custom software. More info about Egg Syntax here.  Join the facebook event here.
