PennSound, a project of the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Programs in Contemporary Writing, is an excellent audio archive, with pages dedicated to BMC rector and instructor Charles Olson and BMC alumnus and poet Robert Creeley.

Click here for the studio recording at Black Mountain College of Olson reading from Maximus, and here for his 1968 perspectives on BMC. Creeley also has a 1954 studio recording at BMC of some of his poems, as well as a 1966 talk on Olson and an interview about BMC with Martin Duberman.

If these ghostly voices pique your interest, next time you stop by the gallery be sure to take a look at some of our video oral histories of alumni.
