Since 1912, when Picasso introduced it as an avant-garde artistic technique, collage has been a fundamental aspect of modernist and postmodernist art. Warren Wilson College professor of art history, Julie Levin Caro, will present an illustrated history of collage in the 20th century focusing on what constitutes a collage aesthetic and why this particular artistic practice and artistic vision continues to remain relevant.
