On Saturday August 29th, arts organizations and businesses in the Broadway Arts District (B.A.D.), Asheville’s newest downtown cultural hub, will be hosting a free block party featuring exhibitions, installations, performances, hands-on activities, food trucks, and more. The Media Arts Project (MAP) and Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center (BMCM+AC) present DOUBLETAKE: A look back at [Re]HAPPENING 2015, an opportunity to view documentary footage created by an all-volunteer media team at the annual {Re}HAPPENING which takes place in early April at the original Black Mountain College campus, now Camp Rockmont. The museum will host installations by two {Re}HAPPENING artist teams, screen a video montage of {Re}HAPPENING 2015, and present artist discussions and live music throughout the afternoon (see schedule below).
Noon – Doors open, “Peepshow” and “The Mundane Shell” installations displayed with photo loop of moments from {Re}HAPPENING 2015
1:00 – Premiere screening of DOUBLETAKE, a {Re}HAPPENING montage video with intro by MAP and BMCM +AC representatives
2:00 – Live music by Alisha Torrealba and Frank Rosaly
3:00 – Jay Miller presentation & Chance Operations discussion with Sara Baird
4:00 – DOUBLETAKE Screening #2
4:15 – Musical performance by Library of Babel and Frank Rosaly
